Step 1 – Prepare Your Parcel
Carefully place your items in a strong padded envelope or small box. Use plenty of packing material to prevent movement or damage in transit. Include our postal form or a handwritten note with your full name, return address, contact number (preferably a mobile), and your preferred payment method — either bank transfer or cheque.
It is a legal requirement to provide valid photo ID. Acceptable forms include a driving licence, passport, student card, or work pass. Either print a copy and include it in your parcel, or email it separately to birminghamgoldcompany@gmail.com.

Step 2 – Post or Arrange Collection
Send your parcel using Royal Mail Special Delivery, which is fully insured and traceable. You can insure your parcel for up to £2,500. Just take your securely packaged parcel to your local Post Office and request Special Delivery — we recommend choosing a medium or large envelope for extra security. If your parcel is particularly valuable, divide it into multiple shipments to stay within insurance limits.
Alternatively, you can use Royal Mail Parcel Collect to have your parcel picked up directly from your home. This service offers the same insurance coverage as Special Delivery. You can book a collection online via Royal Mail's website or at your local branch.
Important: Do not use Parcelforce for precious metals. Their insurance policies do not cover gold, silver, or other valuables, and we cannot be held liable for any losses if this method is used. NB For large transactions over £2,500, send in multiple parcels.
Step 3 – We Contact You
Once received, we assess your items within 24–48 hours and call you between 8-10 AM with details of weight, purity, and our offer based on the London Gold Fix. If we cannot reach you, we’ll leave a message. Please ensure you are contactable and check your messages, it is of great help to us.
Step 4 – Get Paid or Have Items Returned
If you accept our offer, we will pay you via bank transfer or cheque within one working day. Bank transfers are usually completed the same day, although occasionally delays can occur due to random bank security checks. Cheques are sent via Recorded Delivery and typically arrive the next working day. Please ensure your bank details or cheque preferences are clearly written on the postal form or note to prevent payment delays.
If you decline our offer, we’ll return your items free of charge using Special Delivery. Please note, if you’ve sent in any non-precious items (such as costume jewellery), there is a £9 return fee to cover postage and handling. This fee can be deducted from any payment we send if applicable.
Once an offer is accepted, items cannot be returned under any circumstances.
